(My theme for the A-Z challenge is places, things and people around Chicago)
Despite being huge NASCAR fans, we’ve never been to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, but of course I had to include it for the blogging challenge. Well, we see it every year on TV when we watch the races …. The strange thing is that the September race there takes place the week after the Richmond race. Why is that strange? Because when we first started dating, I used to live in Richmond and Tom lived in Chicago. Also, if I remember right, the Chicago race last year was the last one we both watched on TV, apart in our respective cities, before Tom came and got me to move up here.
The track is 1.5 miles long and is a D-shaped tri-oval. All 4 turns have 18 degrees banking. This might not mean much to non-racing fans, but translated it means it’s fairly flat and fast. It opened in 2001, just before I started watching NASCAR.
Never been there. But I’m enjoying your Chicagoland series. 😉

You should go! I’ve been to Daytona before. Just took the tour – no race was running at the time.
