(My theme for the A-Z challenge is places, things and people around Chicago)
For V, I asked Tom to write the post on the Vic Theatre as he has seen about half a dozen shows there.
The Vic Theatre is located in the Lake View neighborhood of Chicago. Mainly used as a live music venue now, the theater was a live Vaudeville venue when it opened in 1912. The building has gone through some renovation over the years, but most of the original interior is still intact. With a capacity of 1300 and great acoustics and sight lines it makes for a nice intimate place to catch a band. Comic Jim Gaffigan and Indie rock band Wilco have recorded live DVDs there. Recent acts to play the Vic have included Courtney Love and The Black Crowes.
When I lived in the suburbs I don’t think I ever made it to the Vic. Darn it! Sounds like a fun place! Happy A-to-Z 2013! ~Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/
You used to live in the area? How cool!
Wow! 1912, that’s a long history.
I would love to see the memorabilia from the vaudeville age.
